BONY
The company
French manufacturer of shaped refractory products
BONY owes its presence in the Saint-Etienne basin to the rich history of its region
Indeed, Saint-Etienne was for a long time a strategic place for the production of refractory materials due to the importance of its coal mines.
In the 1820s, the Saint-Etienne basin was one of the main coal mining sites in the country (more than 200 intramural mine shafts). This mining industry has stimulated creativity and created a center of attraction. This is how the first railway line on the European continent was created between Saint-Etienne and Andrézieux.
When BONY was created, coal production in the Loire stood at around 2 million tonnes. It developed continuously in the following years, thus favoring the establishment and development of foundries, steelworks, forges, etc.
The company was thus able to start its activity as close as possible to its customers and suppliers.
